Rome toured with singer Vesta Williams, but had little success until he met producers Gerald Baillergeau and Victor Merrit, who heard his demo & sent it to RCA Records, who signed him to the label. In 1993, he released a single called “My World” on the Backdoor Records label, but it’s unknown if it generated any success. He attended Oakwood University in Huntsville, Alabama, but dropped out in 1989 to move to California in hopes of pursuing a career as a singer. In high school, Rome sang in a cover band called Fire & Ice and toured regionally as both a solo artist & with the band.
